Answers. No fluff.
Cleanara is built to be silent. If you can “see it”, something’s probably wrong — and we’ll fix it.
INSTALL How do I install Cleanara?
Download the installer, run it, click Next a few times — done. The service starts automatically.
WINDOWS SmartScreen warning?
Official Cleanara installers are signed by INS PROD. A brand-new release may nevertheless trigger a SmartScreen reputation warning: check the file's digital signature and confirm that it came from cleanara.fr.
TRAY Do I need the tray icon?
No. Cleanara runs as a background service. The tray is optional and can be disabled.
CLEAN What does Cleanara clean?
By default: user and system temporary files, Windows thumbnail cache, and older Recycle Bin items. Browser caches and the Windows Update cache are not enabled default targets.
SAFE Will it delete my personal files?
No. Cleanara targets explicitly configured disposable areas and applies minimum retention. It does not target your documents.
SMART When does it run?
There is no fixed schedule to choose. Smart Mode considers free space, temp growth, idle time, the last cleanup, and cooldown; Disk Guard adapts effort to storage pressure.
DATA Does Cleanara collect data?
Cleanara sends no telemetry and does not upload your files. If you enable optional Web Indexing, Bright may process network activity and the IP address under its own policy. See our Privacy Policy.
FUNDING How is it free?
Optional Web Indexing may support funding, but Cleanara offers no premium tier, ad removal, or extra feature in exchange. It is off by default, requires consent, and can be declined or disabled without changing Cleanara’s cleaning features.
Bright states that, while enabled, Web Indexing safely uses some spare device resources. You can turn it off from Cleanara settings. See our Terms, the Bright SDK Privacy Policy, and Learn more.
SERVICE I think it’s not running.
Check Windows Services: CleanaraSvc should be running (Delayed Start).
LOGS Where are logs?
C:\ProgramData\Cleanara\logs. Logs rotate automatically.
UPDATE How do updates work?
Cleanara checks the official manifest in the background and reports an available version. Even though the published package is signed by INS PROD, Cleanara does not silently execute it: the user always starts installation manually.
CONFIG Where is config.json?
C:\ProgramData\Cleanara\config\config.json. Retention values: days_3 / days_7 / days_14 / days_30; 7 days is the default.
UNINSTALL How to uninstall?
Use Windows Settings → Apps → Installed apps. The Cleanara uninstaller handles the service and its optional Web Indexing component.
